

Instructions. Firstly, soak 1 cup chana dal and 2 tbsp masoor dal for 30 minutes. You can also use moong dal in place of masoor dal. Transfer the soaked dal to the pressure cooker. Add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp salt, 1 tbsp ghee and 3 cup water. Cover and pressure cook for 5 whistles or until the dal is cooked well.



Step 1: Wash the chana dal thoroughly. Soak it in clean water for 20 minutes. Drain all the water from it and rinse the soaked dal (image 1). Step 2: Set the Instant Pot in saute mode and add oil. Once it heats, add the cumin seeds and hing. Once the cumin seeds begin to splutter, add onion, ginger, garlic, and green chili.

Heat pressure cooker on medium flame and after one whistle, lower the flame and cook for 7-8 minutes. Switch off the burner after 5-6 whistles. Step 2 Saute onion and tomato. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a deep pan over moderate flame and add cumin seeds and onions. Saute the onions until golden brown.









Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix everything well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add rinsed chana dal and 3 cups water to it. Close the lid, and pressure cook on high for 8-9 whistles. Let the pressure go down completely before opening the lid. Once pin drops, open the lid.















Heat oil in the instant pot. Then, add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Add the onions, garlic, ginger, and sauté for a couple of minutes. Add tomatoes and spices, and stir them well. Add chana dal and water for cooking. Stir it all up. Pressure Cancel and close the lid with the vent in the sealing position.
